Great Reasons Everyone Should Visit a Manhasset, NY Acupuncture Clinic

Acupuncture is an ancient healing technique that has been practiced since before recorded history. The first documented recording was found in the Huang Di Nei Jing, The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, an ancient Chinese medical textbook that’s more than 3,000 years old.

The body is comprised of distinct channels or meridians that allow energy (“Qi”, which is pronounced “chee”) to flow throughout the entire body and has a direct impact on overall health and well-being. When that flow of energy is disrupted, mental and physical health can be negatively impacted. The goal of acupuncture is to restore the proper flow of energy, rebalance and re-harmonize the body, and thereby restore health and well-being. This is done by inserting thin needles into specific points along meridians.

While acupuncture has been practiced for centuries, over the past few decades, it’s become increasingly popular, and for good reason, as it offers a wealth of benefits. Here’s a look at just some of the benefits that you’ll be able to take advantage of when you visit a Manhasset, NY acupuncture clinic.

Relaxation

In today’s fast-paced world, it isn’t unusual to feel stressed out, overwhelmed, and rundown; in fact, these feelings among the general population have increased exponentially and are more common than ever before. Between attending to your family and your home, the demands of work, upholding social obligations, and the uncertainty in the world, it’s hard to find time to sit back, relax, and enjoy some much-needed self-care. As a result, you may feel like you’re in a high state of stress on a constant basis, which not only makes you feel short-tempered, snappy, and frustrated, but can also be damaging to your physical and mental health.

If you feel like your stress levels are mounting, scheduling an appointment with a Manhasset, NY acupuncture therapist would be worth your while. Clinics that offer the best acupuncture near you will know exactly how to alleviate your stress and bring you back to a state of calming relaxation.

Versatile Health Care

If you suffer from a medical condition and you’re looking for a natural and effective treatment option that doesn’t require the adverse effects that are often associated with pharmaceutical drugs, consider scheduling an appointment with a Manhasset, NY acupuncture center. There is ample scientific evidence that proves the many health conditions that acupuncture can treat. Examples of some of the medical conditions that this therapy can effectively treat include:

It’s All-Natural

While pharmaceutical drugs may have their place in certain situations, it’s well-known that they can cause side effects, some of which can be serious. In other words, by taking prescription drugs, you may see some relief for migraines, back pain, arthritis pain, or any other type of ailment you may be afflicted with; however, in exchange for the minimal benefits they may provide, you run the risk of developing side effects and other health complications. With acupuncture, that isn’t the case. That’s because it’s completely natural. No synthetic chemicals are used; rather, your body’s natural energy levels are manipulated to promote healing. Not only will you see an improvement in your health, but you won’t have to deal with the risks of adverse effects.

It’s Trusted

Acupuncture has been around for a long, long time. As noted, it’s at least 3,000 years old, but likely much older. When medical treatment is practiced for such a long time, it’s a good testament to its trustworthiness and its effectiveness. If it weren’t trusted, doctors, naturopaths, and other health professionals, as well as patients who are seeking safe, natural, and effective healing options wouldn’t be relying on this treatment to improve their health and well-being for centuries.

It’s Safe

While having tiny needles stuck through your skin might seem a little off-putting and dangerous, in reality, not only is it not scary, but it’s also safe; a lot safer than petrochemical medications, in fact. While there are some risks that are associated with this type of therapy, such as mild tenderness at the sites where the needles are inserted, and some slight bruising, most people experience mild to no adverse effects at all. Additionally, the needles are sterile and a reputable, highly trained, and certified Manhasset, NY acupuncture therapist will properly place the needles so that you’ll feel next to nothing if anything at all.

Promotes Physical and Mental Wellness

Nothing is more important than your physical and mental health. In today’s day-and-age, however, where junk food abounds and the nutrients in healthy foods have been depleted, and it’s hard to find time to get exercise, clear your mind, and focus on the simpler things in life, as well as all of the societal stresses, it’s easy to see why so many people are suffering physically and mentally. With the best acupuncture near you, you’ll be able to strengthen your immune system, boost your overall physical health, and restore your mental health, too. So many have reported that they feel better than they’ve ever felt before, thanks to regular acupuncture sessions.

Some information about Manhasset, NY

Manhasset is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 8,080 at the 2010 census.

The Matinecock had a village on Manhasset Bay. These Native Americans called the area Sint Sink, meaning ‘place of small stones’. They made wampum from oyster shells. In 1623, the area was claimed by the Dutch West India Company and they began forcing English settlers to leave in 1640. A 1643 land purchase made it possible for English settlers to return to Cow Neck (the peninsula where present-day Port Washington, Manhasset, and surrounding villages are located.).

Manhasset Bay was previously known as Schout’s Bay (a schout being roughly the Dutch equivalent of a sheriff), Martin Garretson’s Bay (Martin Garretson was the Schout at one point), and later Cow Bay or Cow Harbor. Cow Neck was so called because it offered good grazing land. By 1659, there were over 300 cows and 5 mi (8 km) fence separating Cow Neck from the areas south of it. The settlers came to an agreement that each of them could have one cow on the neck for each section of fence the individual had constructed. The area was more formally divided among the settlers when the fence was removed in 1677. Manhasset took on the name Little Cow Neck, Port Washington was known as Upper Cow Neck.

During the American Revolution, Little Cow Neck suffered at the hands of the British. Many structures and properties, such as the 1719 Quaker Meeting House were burned, seized or damaged. The Town of North Hempstead separated from the Town of Hempstead in 1784 because the South, inhabited mainly by Church of England people, was loyal to the king. The Northern communities and villages, dominated by Yankee Congregationalists supported independence.

Non-Needle Treatment

Acupuncture is just one form of therapy used within the coherent system of healing known as Oriental Medicine. It involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles to “re-program” and restore normal functions in the body.

Herbal medicine has been used worldwide for thousands of years. It has been used by all cultures in the East and the West, and was the dominant form of medicine on the planet until the last century.

In addition to acupuncture and herbology, cupping therapy has been part of Chinese medicine for over 2,500 years.
